I recently visited the Legion of Honor for a field trip. Here are a few sketches and photos that I took during my stay there:

Intention:

For my last project, SI #12, I wanted to make it so this piece both involves aspects of my other works within it while as well rapping up the idea of my SI at the same time. To represent this idea I decided I wanted to cover all the feelings, criticisms, and thoughts one often has about themselves and how its often bubbled up, constricting them until they are released from that prison. Very much often people like to keep their thoughts and feelings to themselves. Fearing that if they released those thoughts and feelings it will result in even more hassles. So in order not to come to terms with the consequences they will continue to contain these feelings, which also doesn't end up doing them any good either.

Idea:

In order to represent this idea, I decided to once again choose two animals for this art piece. I chose both the Jackalope (a mythical creature that's seen as a combination of both a rabbit and a deer) to represent those thoughts and feelings, and a snake, in order to show the feeling of containing said feelings.

Within this piece, the Jackalope will be seen being captured by the snake, unable to escape its grasp until it decides to either let go and or consume the so called prey it has captured. Representing the feeling of feeling consumed by your own thoughts.

Wrap Up:

  • What are my insights, reflections and thoughts/feelings about finishing my work?

    • Throughout the year there have been multiple things that I feel I could've done a better job working on. Such as not allowing myself to get behind on some projects towards the end of the year and not getting burnt out on creating art for this class so early into the class. I also feel like due to the fact that I had a hard time coming up with ideas to what to draw when it came to my SI that I had a lot of drawbacks I had to deal with. Even though I had a lot of hardships I still had a fun time when it came to coming up with ideas when it came to my SI.
