Intention:

For this project, I'm wanting to focus on the concept of family trauma, and how it impacts ones mental health and self-worth as a person growing up. Family trauma comes in all shapes and sizes but one thing for sure is that it almost always sticks with you forever. Something that will forever change and alter you and your personality.

Idea:

To represent this concept in my project, I choose the rat as my animal for this piece. There have been times were rats ended up getting stuck attached to other rats during times were their grouped together. Becoming attached because of their tails making it impossible for any rat to escape and ending with their demise. This incident is often also seen as a metaphor for the profound otherness and and the difficulties of having to deal with others. Which can also include family.

However, instead of showing them conjoined by the tail to represent the bond within a family. I'm going to represent them as all one being. Having you see that no matter what, you will always be reminded of that trauma.
